Campbell Live "Covers" the Flu Jab – 18 April 2012 (part 1)

Dear Campbell Live Team

The Immunisation Awareness Society would like to express our concern regarding the inaccurate information broadcasted on your program regarding the flu vaccine (18/04/12:

To begin, John Campbell stated that “vaccines work.” Is he aware that in the first three months of 2012, 46 people had a confirmed case of whooping cough, even though they had each received four doses of the vaccine? This is just one example of many vaccines that do not work. Please feel free to look at the statistics for yourself:

In addition, Tristram Clayton claimed that there were at least 100 deaths a year linked to the influenza virus, possibly as many as 400. Could you please advise where he gets these figures from? Also, how many of these people were immune-compromised, already suffering from other diseases or had received annual flu vaccines?

Dr John Cameron exclaimed that it is impossible to become sick or feel bad after receiving the influenza vaccine. It seems he is not familiar with the Medsafe datasheet for the Fluvax vaccine (, where it is stated that during its clinical trial, children experienced fever, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, myalgia, earache, sore throat and more after receiving the vaccine. Some adults reported feeling generally unwell after the vaccine. Adverse reactions after post-approval use of Fluvax include blood, lymphatic, immune and nervous system disorders; vascular, skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders. It is very unfortunate that a medical doctor should make such blatantly false claims on national television.

One of your viewers also wrote that the only thing in the vaccine is the empty virus protein or the outside skeleton of a flu virus. Untrue statements such as these are not helpful for people who would like to make an informed decision on whether the vaccine is appropriate for them or not. Vaccines (in general) routinely contain a variety of toxic ingredients such as formaldehyde, aluminium, antibiotics and a variety of questionable preservatives.

John Campbell then mentioned that the MoH state that pregnant women are at risk of becoming ill from the flu virus. He did not state whether the vaccine is recommended for pregnant women or not. However, we would like to point out that the Medsafe data sheet states that “adequate human data on use during pregnancy are not available” –

A study published in 2010 examined 40 clinic trials (of over 70,000 people) which evaluated the effects of vaccines against influenza in healthy adults. The study concluded that “Influenza vaccines have a modest effect in reducing influenza symptoms and working days lost. There is no evidence that they affect complications, such as pneumonia, or transmission” – (

If you are interested in doing a program on vaccines in future, the IAS will gladly provide you with accurate information to assist the public in making an informed decision regarding vaccination.

Kind Regards

Eugenie Kruger
